Glass Tower

Glass Tower

The Glass Towers line the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. In the early 90s, the Foss Waterway was considered one of the most polluted locations in the country. The city, federal agencies, and over 70 companies responsible for the pollution contributed to a massive cleanup that spanned 20 years. The first structure erected along Thea Foss Waterway was the Museum of Glass in 2002 and the Chihuly Bridge of Glass a year later. Chihuly described the bridge as "the gateway that welcomes people to Tacoma."
