Dale Chihuly, born in Tacoma, Washington was introduced to glass blowing while attending the University of Washington for interior design. After graduation, he attended the University of Wisconson and the first glass program in the country. He went on to complete fellowships across the world and with time became a household name with installations across the globe. A gift from Chihuly back to his hometown, is the Chihuly Bridge of Glass connecting Downtown Tacoma to Thea Foss Waterway.
